i was wondering if iguanas are allowed to eat buttery lettuce the kind that you can get out of those salads that are already made and that are in the bag if not what other kinds of lettuce can they eat

Well iguanas shouldn't eat any "lettuces" they have basically no nutrition in them that an iguana needs and are mostly water. They might help a dehydrated iguana get more water but will usually keep them from eating the foods they do need. You can go to the iguanaden.com site and they have lists of foods you can feed but I will give you a few basic examples.

They need greens such as mustard, turnip, dandelion and collard greens. You can also include but not use in place of them the following kale, endive, escarole, arugula. They also need other vegetables such as squash (butternut, acorn, etc.), green beans, peppers, yams, etc. Then you can include a small amount of fruit such as berries and apples. You can include when possible alfalfa fresh or pellets, a small amount of whole wheat bread as a treat and small amounts of other grains on occassion. These are just some examples and there are many other to choose from.
