My URO laid in her bowl of water!

Flavia Guimaraes Oct 23, 2003 04:09 PM

One week ago i bought my second half dead uro, a Saharan. She (??) was in a very bad shape, with very sad expression in her eyes and i really thought she would die soon.Well, for a few days after i brought her home i soaked her in the bath tub filled with warm water with salt and sugar (home recipy for dehydratation)and she soon became better and i stopped the baths. But i notice she still could not stand very high temperatures at her basking place what is a sign of dehydration too.
As im an iguana person i always keep a large bowl of water inside all my reptiles cages.Even inside my uros cage. When i returned home from work today i found the Saharan laid inside the bowl of water! I immediately took her and put her inside the bath tub. When she saw the bathtub she jumped inside willing to get a bath!Apparently she was feeling still very dehydrated and needed to soak in water!

How did you deciede how to make your home remedy, and i am posative that your yellow saharan is a male. Females are barely yellow, they are mostly gray, but your guy is definatly a male. Also, do you have a male mimic female mali or is it just a normal male mali.

you can know if it is a male or female by the bulges in between their back legs, also the pores. I have included a pisture of my male saharan. He is still a litte young also, so his pores/bulges aren't as defined as they might be. But i would say your yellow saharan is DEFINATLY male due to the bright coloring. As for the mali i would also say male BUT it MAY be male mimic probably not but you never know. Look at the buldges, or post a pic and we will be able to help you out!
Good luck!

Just a cautionary note. New arrivals should always be quarantined for a good 3 months(some say 6) before being introduced to any other animals. It's also a good idea to seek out a vet and have a fecal done(You've probably already done that). Best of luck with the new addition
