2 Azureus Pics, and a skin question?

kyle1745 Oct 23, 2003 05:45 PM

Couple pictures of my female Azureus, and after editing these, I noticed that she has some small bumps on her stomach. I put ointment on them, to be safe, but does anyone know what these are? You can see it in the second picture. I think I really need to cut back what I feed these 2 they are very fat as you can see.

I'm still treating my other frog, and sent him the pic on this one. So far my other frog is not getting any worse, but hard to tell if he is getting better.

hey kyle- i don't know how much you have been feeding them, but is it possible that they are becoming fat with eggs (on top of just being plump from heavy feedings)? if i remember correctly you were expecting them to start breeding soon... just a thought.

Its possible, but might be a bit soon. Azureus normally do not start breeding until about 12-14 months old right? Mine are only about 8-10 months old. I got them in April and they were a good size so my guess is that they were about 1-3 months old.

I had a tinc that had a similar looking spot on its nose. It got worst over time and stopped eating. This is what I did, so I am not recommending it, but only offer some information. I used a Q-tip and rubbed an anti-bacterial creme on the sore two times a day. Also, I made a dilute solution (1/10 of normal dose)of erythomycin and minocycline (Maracyn 1 and 2)(this took care of both gram and - bacteria). I dropped around 5-10 dropped on the sore 2 times a day in between the creme treatment. After around 1-2 weeks, the sore started getting better and he resumed feeding. He was an adult wild caught powder blue male tinc and well worth the effort, since he is now a breeder in my trio of powder blues. That treatment was around 1 1/2 years ago and never had it again. Good luck and if in doubt seek professional advice.

I did send an e-mail to dr. frye, and he said about the same thing. I am treating it with ointment I already have from him for my other azureus. Now I have to catch both of them each day.. They just love that.
