About 5 months ago I had a Forest cobra the had very high titers to OPMV infection. The snake also showed neurological disfunction. I have had no other snakes show any signs, infact all my other animals seem to be in great health. Is it safe for me to add animals to my collection at this time? How long would any of you wait? I have many cobras and rattlesnakes any all seem great. I have read all jacobsons papers ,I just want to know what other peoples experience has been with this virus.

My advice is nothing is certain - BUT there is a record in the literature of a snake still shedding OPMV after ten months.
BUT this may not be the routine (that was cited in Mader's book).
Also check out the paper at:
http://www.smuggled.com/OPMV6.htm
which relates to a reovirus which presents similarly in snakes to OPMV and also has no known use-by date - BUT some snakes first identified as infected in June (with symptoms) are still showing symptoms in relapses NOW.
ALL THE BEST
