Update on stubby nail tamatave

jovcham Oct 23, 2003 08:31 PM

I posted earlier this week about my new tamatave messing up his nails in shipment.

Just wanted to let everyone know he's doing better. He learned how to walk around on his branches without falling and is now roaming around exploring his new home. he keeps trying to climb the cage though and cant get a grip. its cute but sad too. Poor thing, the whole first day after his nasty falls he just sat froze on a small vine.

I still have not found a decent size patho's for him. all the house and garden stores are out or have a few tiny ones.

I still have a hard time believing that his nails got filed down in a box or a cup during shipping. I've had a chameleon do that to himself from climbing on the screen alot, like everyone said. It was an aluminum screening I had bought and built a cage from and when I noticed him falling alot and slipping, I checked his nails out and saw that they were almost gone. That was about 7-8 months ago and he still doesn't have nails. He doesn't crawl on his screen much anymore, I think he's learning from his previous falls, but this is something I would definately think about bringing up with whoever you got him from. If you could, E-Mail me with the name of where you got him. It wouldn't have happened during shipping. There's nothing to file against. How old is he?
