aluminum foil

nasr_36 Oct 23, 2003 09:35 PM

Im thinking of putting aluminum foil around the end of my flourescents (ontop the lid), in hopes of brightening up the terrarium. Anyway, does anyone see a problem with this? I dont think its toxic, and im pretty sure the frogs wont come in contact with it anyway...

Thanks,
M.N

I have tried this myself, and can safely say, it won't make much difference, if any at all. When the foil is applied, it will have alot of small creases and folds in it which makes it a poor choice for your usage. You may want to try tin or aluminum sheets that have a mirror finish to them.

Use mylar. Check your local plant specialty stores for it. Nursuries with hydroponic sections should carry it too.

I do this with all of the hanging shop light fixtures that I use. It works well to block extra light from shining in your eyes while you look in the terrarium and seems to brighten the terrariums a little bit.

It does do a good job blocking extra light from shining in your eyes. Give it a try. It can't hurt.
