When does color morph beardies start to show color????

khandof Oct 23, 2003 10:08 PM

I have a 13 week old color morph beardie. I feed her greens and crickets, and I have all the correct lights. Her basking spot temp. is at 110. She's had to shedding while I've had her and she's growing like a weed. She has a little orange coloring on her back and head, but but the majority of her body is brown. I know all beardie are different and show their colors at different times, but when will she turn orange like she is suppose to? How much longer do I have to wait???

it really depends on the dragon, even being that she is from colored parents it may not mean that she will show that color also

Often lighting is a key contributor to color. Correct temps, UVB and additional flourescent lighting if needed to make for a brightly lit enclosure.

What else can I do to help her color come out???

What you've been told so far is about it.
There's no magic pill, food, or anything else.
It's up to the dragon and it's genetics.

Sorry.

Different animals show colors at different ages and some not at all. I have about 150 babies from red/orange parents and they all color up differently. (still waiting on some)

One breeder told me his babies would not color up till they were 1 year old

another breeders babies were at about 8 months

some actually loose color!!!
good luck
