i'll try to keep the first time with egg questions to a min.

I have the Love's book but I don't recall seeing this there.

My eggs are a little over 24 hours old and are in damp (soaked and wrung out) moss. The temp is 83. I have 5 individuals and a clump of 14 eggs for 19 total.

I noticed a couple of eggs in the clump are a bit dented today and were not yesterday. Is this an indication of anything or is it par for the course?

Thanks in advance for any response.

most eggs tend to dimple a bit towards hatching, and I think maybe after laying as well, but monitor the humidity, they wil also dimple, then shrivell if they get too dried out. If your humidity is high, and your temps are at 83, you should be fine. but keep a close eye on the humidity, to little and they dry up, too much and they get "waterlogged" I kept mine around 85% I think, but I had no humidistat, I will have one for next years eggs though, because I'm pretty sure the one good egg I lost was my fault by dehydrating it.

Good luck

How does one measure the humidity? It there a handy dandy device that will assist in doing this?

A hydrometer is used in brewing (probably among other things)to measure the density of a liquid. A Hygrometer is used to measure humidity in ambient air, or any moisture content in another given substance.
