POLL: Highlighted ads in the classified sections, do like them or not?

thecaiman May 29, 2003 08:59 AM

Hello, I rember when ksnake first started the enhanced acounts some people liked them and some didnt. I have been thinking of getting one myself, I think it would help my ads in the feeders section and was wondering what everyone thought. Personally I like them I think it kind of throws the ad at you where the normal ads just kind of all blend in togther. So if I could hear some ya or na's I would apreciate it. Thanks for your time Jason

To be totally honest, I dont even look at the pink adds anymore. When they first appeared on the classifieds they did stand out, but after a week or 2 they stood out in the opposite direction and I stopped clicking on them all together. So it may have its good and bad points im my opinion.

I personally do not like them...I find them more annoying then helpful. And I actually find myself avoiding them since for quite awhile all they had were the basic run of the mill animals... Just my opinion... (I actually pay more attention to the title of the add not the "stand out factor", if it is vague I ignore it...) if they are not smart enough to advertise accurately what they are selling then they don't need my money...Later Randy T.

Like the others, I tend to avoid the highlighted ads...
for many of the same reasons already stated. A lot of them
also seem to be from petstores that also sell online. (nothing
wrong with that, just a personal grievance with one of
those stores lol) It's like the bold in Ebay, at first it
really made stuff stand out, but now so many people are
doing it, it just looks like clutter.

THEM. I THINK IT WOULD HELP YOUR SALES. I HAVE HAD ONLY POSITIVE FEEDBACK SINCE I TRIED IT. IF YOUR AD LOOKS NICE AND IS IMFORMATIVE IT HELPS IN ALL SALES. BUT AS WE HAVE DISCUSSED VIA TELEPHONE, WHAT REALLY MATTERS IS THE QUALITY OF YOUR PRODUCT.

I'm indifferent to the highlights, what I do think stands out about them is the bolder typing. People interested in certain aspects of quality are going to look through most all of the ads and place more weight on reputation of seller, experience of customers, etc, than are people looking for just "a good deal". Alot of times the flashier and more attention grabbing things are the more I wonder what the catch is.

Personally, I look more at the descriptions of each add, rather than the highlight. If the description has something I'm interested in, I look at at, but the fancy banner itself doesn't necessarily prompt me to look. Just my $0.02!

That way I know which ads not to bother with.

BETTER YET, TAKE A PIC OF A SNAKE AND SHOW EVERYONE THAT YOU ARE NOT JUST A FAKE. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SHOW OR OFFER BESIDES A SMART A$$ ATTITUDE?
