To those that are posting not to tell your insurance company you own a caiman... you may want to consider the following.
Your house burns down (for whatever reason usually covered). Fire marshall finds your caiman (dead of course) in the remains while looking for clues. Your insurance company is notified (possibly not but let's say it is). Your insurance is null and void. You just realized you've been paying into a false sense of security.
The insurance companies will look for any reason not to pay you. Lying on the forms ("I don't have any dangerous pets or herps"
is a pretty straightforward one.
Just for you to consider... you may be better off saving some money on the side and hope your worst occurence is theft.
