PLEASE HELP!!!!

Jed Feb 08, 2003 04:24 PM

I just adopted an 8 foot burm. I am not a snake guy, I keep it to mainly monitors. This snake has a pretty bad respitory infection. I brought him to the vets today and they gave him some anti-biotics. They want to make an apointment next week to check up on him. My question is what can I do for him to make him feel comfortable, and help with the infection. I have never delt with this problem, so ANY info would be GREAT! Thanks for your time, Jed Hassfeld. If you can help me I would really apriciate it if you emailed me at: monitors4you@hotmail.com

I emailed right when I got back from the vet. Now it is about 7 hours later. The burm is looking soooooo much better. I cranked up the heat and he is the most curiou snake I have ever seen. He has been exploring his new cage all day. He is thermoreguling himself really well too. He was in the middle of a shed, which was not going too well. I gave him a nice big water dish, that he can soak in, which he has been doing for about an hour now. It think that he has a 90% chance to live now. The vets office said that I had not brought him in today most likely would have died this weekend. When he was at his "old house" he was sitting in the same spot as a lifless mess of a creature. Now he has the joy of life, a proper, healthy, happy life. Anyway I thought I would share. Thanks to all who emailed me! I will post another message in a few days to update you all again.
