Killing escape crickets -- I haven't slept in three days!!

lindsay78 Oct 24, 2003 12:24 PM

There are two or three loose crickets in my apartment.

It's now to the point that my boyfriend I are convinced they're multiplying *which is basically impossible, it's freezing outside, and they have no food or water*

I can't find them to save my life!

Does anyone have any killing techniques for these evil little things?

We needs to sleep. lol

Thanks!

check behind/beside your refrigerator. my sister left out the container of crickets once and my cat dumped them! i tore apart the apartment until i had captured them, and i found most hiding behind the refrigerator!

p.s.- that's a beautiful baby in your picture!

no, my crickets prefer the tv.
I guess they like watching tv! they're both (or more) beside/behind the damn tv 'area' in general. no fridge area...little f*ckers!!

ps. thanks for the baby comment!!!

Hi
here they say if cricks escape you should put some zelfrising oatmeal nearby where you hear the sound .
and nearbij you put littlebit of water in a swalow dish.
then they wil eat the zelf rising oatmeal then drink water.
and what then hapend fill in yourezelf
it must work what i have heard from other people.
yep very nice babie but not abit dangerous the bigger beardie so nearby ?

they get trapped and die or you kill them when they are caught....
good luck.......
People think its kinda cool to hear summer cricket noises in the winter in NY?

for those who dont know we are reptile keepers etc, it really confuses them

There is something you can use but you have to be careful where you spray it.

It's called Doctor Doom. Before you spray it you must make sure all of your animals and people are out of the room.

After you spray it close the door and nobody should enter at least until 2 hours later.

You basically spray the stuff along the sides of the walls near the floor boards and under couches and other places crickets might be. It kills them within 10 seconds after they inhale. Be sure to avoid fumes...and make sure all animals are removed.

You can probably buy it at a nursery or garden center. I'm sure Raid would work as good.

Put out a small dish of water, or better yet, cola, in the area the noise is coming from. Put it up close to the wall, or if there's a piece of furniture or appliance there, under it.
The cricket should drown it's self in short order.

Lindsay, Yes, those escaped crickets chirping either late at night or early in the a.m. are quite annoying. I am a light sleeper and declare I can even hear the things crawling around (he,he,he). I have found an easy way to trap the little boogers - it's called Catchmaster Baited Mouse, Insect & Snake Glue Boards - they pop-up like a little square box. I just put them behind the dragon's cages, behind the t.v., behind the toilets in bathroom - places where the box itself can be hidden from our view but places where I'm sure the crickets will gravitate toward. They do smell at first (like a bag of taco chips) - it's the smell that pulls the crickets toward it. Then the glue traps them inside so they can't get out and then they eventually die. You can most likely find them at your local Wal-Mart (where I found mine) or probably Lowes. Hope this helps you - get some "shut-eye". Teresa (TBKDragons)
