I'm a TV production major at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I'm taking an Interactive Multimedia class this semester, and we were told for our final project to do something "useful."
Well...
I kept thinking about all the lizards people get that they know nothing about. All those nile monitors that get picked up in pet stores and either die within a few weeks or get "let loose" in the everglades because they get "too big."
I'm going to make some interactive software that people can use to help decide which lizard is right for them. Based on input from the user (like how much space/time they have) the program will offer appropriate suggestions, offer full care sheets, supplemental guides, and even the best places to buy them (::cough cough:: NOT PETSMART!! ::cough cough:
.
So here's where you guys come in. While I'm not sure that I will ever have the opportunity to show this anywhere but at school, I would never sell it (if I stumbled on a bunch of money, I would love to make dozens of copies to hand out at reptile shows and such, or what if there was a kiosk that people could walk up to at shows?? Wouldn't that be great?). But yeah, I don't have that much money, and (though my mom would disagree) I don't have that many lizards. So I was wondering if you all would mind sharing some of your favorite pictures of your kids with me for this project. Geckos, Uros, Beardies, Iguanas, Monitors, anything with 4 legs and a tail! I am going to have full credits in the program, I'll put your name (or not, if you prefer) and the name of the lizard too, if you like. Georgio, I was wondering if you would mind if I included that video you posted a long time of Boulder with your kitty?
There are just so many misconceptions out there about our favorite little cold-blooded friends... I want to open some eyes, even if it ends up just being at my school. And maybe save some reptilian lives down the line!! This software could even be uploaded onto the internet and run with shockwave.
Provided the file isn't too big, I will try to find a way to get it online once it is done to show you all. I would really love any pictures you feel like sharing (again, this will never be sold for profit, I promise! entirely educational!).
My email is NPOHWORKS@yahoo.com. Thanks.
Oh, and P.S. Georgio how is little Nebu doing? Our egyptians are eating everything in sight and seem to be growing just soooo slowly!
