A few photos of my orange BRBs (Thanks again, Sayyed!)

chaoscat Oct 24, 2003 03:54 PM

I took some good ones of my two rainbow boas.

Brazilian Rainbow Boa pair (I'm tired of trying to know who is who!)

Both of them are about 4 feet right now, not sure how much they weigh yet.

Cat,
. Nice looking snakes. BRBs are easy to tell apart. The markings on the back are all variations on circles and half circles. If two same size half circles line up together they make a nice larger full circle. If the half circles alternate back and forth they make a zigzag pattern. If the zigzag involves just three equal half circles it makes a "Mickey Mouse" looking marking. If you have one larger circle connected to another smaller circle it looks like a duckling. To identify individual snakes you just look at the pattern starting right behind the head and find the distinguishing markings. For example if the fifth marking is a Mickey Mouse and the ninth is a baby duck it is not liekly you will find many more BRBs with that combination.

I know-I was just too lazy to make the distinction for the photo shoot.
