Gollum & Smeagol's setup. Question about multiple basking spots (56K?, 5 pics,640x480)

BigFil Oct 24, 2003 04:20 PM

Here is Gollum and Smeagol and their 48x16x16 terrarium. Is it OK to have multiple basking spots on either end and have the cool spot in the middle? On the left side I have a 75watt basking bulb with a surface temp of 113 degrees and on the right side a 100watt basking bulb with a surface temp of 115 degrees with a center ambient temp of between 78-85 degrees depending on the time of day. I also have a 18" slimline uvb light over the left basking spot that is not turned on in the pic in case anyone was about to roast me on that.

They tend to spend most of their time together on the left side but it is not uncommon for one to go to the other basking spot or the middle branch for some alone time.

I've tried to give them as many options through a heat gradient as possible, but wanted to make sure everything looks OK to you guys.

I think having two basking spots is ok as long as you have the temperature gradient like you have. They just need to be able to cool off if they need to and you've taken care of that. Looks great!
