ok, i'm am very much considering getting a beareded dragon since i have heard such good things about them and i have wanted one forever.
here are my q's.
can it come out with me in the summer on a leash. (walk around town etc?)
i am a male. should i get a male or female. will a male be more inclined to give me a tude? i really want it to be tame and chill with me like, when i relax.
will a female be more calm?
any feedback is appreciated.
thanks,
me

Out of the 4 adult beardies (1 female, 3 males) that I have only the female is calm enough to sit on my shoulder for a car ride to the pet store or a stroll through the park on a sunny day. The others freak out if a bird or airplane flys over head and they duck for cover. I don't think it's related to gender though. It's just the luck of the draw. I also think that taking the beardie outside as much as possible will help too.

Yeah, beardies are great!

Beautiful Dragons

temperment all depends on teh individual dragon and it's age. Sex doesn't have as much to do with it than age. Some people here have super calm dragons both male an female, others have dragons of both sexes with alot of attitude. My own female is tempermental. Some days she will let me handle her, weight her, bath her without any problems, other times she flips out and gets nippy. Lately she has been refusing crickets cause she just knows I received my order of silkworms. She wants them not the cricket I bought to feed her till my order of worms came in.

They certainly have character and each have a personality all their own. Regular handling and treat giving is typically the best way into their hearts. Mine is far from calm enough to risk leaving on my shoulder while I drive around (don't think I would risk her safety even if she was calm enough. Would hate to have her plastered against my windshield should I have to slam on my breaks hard suddenly). I don't think any dragon would be suitable for walking on a leash since they tend to stand still most of the time, moving in short spurts to explore or avoid something. I am sure you can let it sit on your shoulder on a leash while you walk.

thanks to all.

and yes, i meant keeping it on my shoulder on the leash, so it won't jump and run up a telephone pole if something spooks it. i could see the call now.

"hello...fire department? can you send a ladder truck....my lizard is stuck in a tree..."

"your what sir?"

"my lizard"

"*silence...then laughter* -Click_"

haha

LOL that certainly would make the call of the week for the fire department...but it would be more fun to say your Dragon is stuck up a tree.
