My two love beef heart. I can put any other food in there and they like it, but for beef heart they go crazy. I'm gonna cook up some chicken heart tonite and let them have some... Plus I just gave my RES a pinkie that my Sand Boa turned down... That was cool.
Maybe beefheart is great to get a turtle eating but keep in mind organ meats like heart, liver, etc. are VERY high in phosphorus and very low in calcium. Same for flesh meat like chicken, beef, pork without bones. Very high in phosphorus and low in calcium. All turtles need plenty of calcium. Just don't go crazy with these foods or your turtles will develop problems. A high phosphorus low calcium diet is really bad. Pinkie mice and whole feeder fish are much better. They are more balanced in the calcium/phosphorus ratios.
