Any Ideas. I have a few of each of different sizes & would like to combine them. They are similar to each other & I recall hearing that they can interbreed but not 100% sure.
I may try it anyway.

I am thinking of getting rid of crix and using silkies and roaches for main food source. here is an article on roaches - not sure if it has the info you need.
Do they both climb? I want to rear some that i don;t have to worry about climbing, thus hiding (or getting loose).

-----
0.1 veiled - Luna
0.2 green anoles (Jaida, no name)
0.1 brown anole - Jamaica
0.2 house geckos - (still no names)
I Don't know anything about them being able to interbred so can't give any info on that.
Why not just keep them in seperate containers? They don't demand alot of attention and are easyily cared for when humidity, heat, hiding, and food is provided. I have discoids and dubia in seperate containers. I probably spend less than 5 minutes a day caring for them and I have them in a plastic 15-20 gallon containers. Unless, of course, you are limited on space...

My reason is I have so few of each. The discoids are in a heated cage the death heads are not. I figured if I consolodated them I'd have better production.
Lele, Discoids & Death Heads are both of the Blaberus family and they are very similar in size and marking. In fact Discoids are confused for death heads by many people.
Regarding Crickets vs Roaches. It's a mater of maintenance. Lobsters & roaches in general are low maintenance & do not stink like crickets. Unless you let them get wet or moldy. Roaches have a longer life span but if you raise crickets in a low heat environment they too can live long lives. I have a batch of crickets that I started raising from eggs late spring early summer. They still are not full grown. Boy are they hardy & active.
Roaches are the way to go. Currently raising 9 species. I will stop raising crickets after this batch but will buy them from time to time for variety in feeding. Heck for 2 dolloars I can get close to 50 crickets. In the long run roaches are cheaper. My lobsters are out growing their tank. I've started a second colony. Will be going to 3 soon, maybe by that time I can start selling some off.
Anyone have an answer to my question Combining Discoid & Death Heads?

I don't know the answer, but you might need to ask Roachman Willis. I'd be interested to know the answer.
BTW, how are your green banana roaches doing?

They are doing good. I will be cleaning out thier cage monday evening so I can give you a better idea then. Last time I looked they were pretty active with lots of nymphs. Adults are flying out when I open the lid. Easy to catch though. As long as too many don't fly out at one time...
I may set them up in an aquarium so I can watch them more closely. They are so interesting & small. A Nice complimental food source to go with the lobsters, hisser nymphs, freshly molted other roach species, mealworms & occasional cricket.
I wish someone would answer my question. Oh Well. I'll hit the archives one evening when I have a bit of extra time. I should have done that to begin with.

Hi, I do have a mixed colony of discoids and death heads. since 2 years. The death heads just dropepd in by chance when someone gave me his old unwanted "discoid" colony.
To my knowledge, I do not see any intergrades and the discoids seem to be starting to compete out the death heads with time.

I did an inventory last night when cleaning out the 2 cages. I have 37 nymphs & 2 adult Death Heads. 130 nymphs & 9 adult Discoids. 11 adults in totoal. Mostly nymphs.
I kept them seperate for now but once I get another 10 gallon aquarium together I'll combine them & put a heat pad under it.
I inventoried my Green Banana's. There where too many to count. They seem to do well with neglect. I gave plenty of that the last couple months. They don't eat much BTW.
My Lobsters are in a population explosion. Put a peeled apple in the cage before bed & it's gone by morning. I'm starting to barter them off now.
Thanks for the reply on combining the Disco's & DH's.
