Mercury Vapor dangers

BigFil Oct 24, 2003 07:27 PM

I ran across a very lengthy but well worded article concerning some of the possible dangers of MVB bulbs to not only our pets but also thier owners. From the article it sounds like this has come up on this forum and been a heated (no pun intended) debate in the past, but like myself many people visiting these forums have are relatively new to subject and not aware of the past conversations that have taken place. Having lurked around here for a few months and seeing many people bring up MVB's and give glowing reviews, I was under the impression that these were well worth the extra $$ they cost to buy and was considering purchasing one for my setup as soon as my UVB light needed to be replaced. After reading the article I am not willing to take the chance and will stick with what's proven.

Check the date on it, I think you will see it is several years old. Many things on it have since been clarified.

You might want to do some searches on the web and read some of the more recent articles by herpetologist and Vets.
