HYBRIDIZING - I have found several methods that work for me. I have been lucky enough to acquire some great looking, great breeding, fertile hybrids that will attempt to breed almost any female. Some females don't feel the same way about a particular male and will only breed with one of them and not the others. So be it. If however, I am determined to introduce a particular pattern, albinism, subspecies, dominate stripe gene, etc., into a different female or hybrid then I am limited on who needs to breed who. There are times when 2 certain snakes have to breed to accomplish this desired goal due to me only having one of each sex. At this point I will simply put the male in the females cage. If no interest by the male to breed the female then I know I need to get his interest up. He may be the problem and not the female. I usually know which female he goes after quickly and then I use her as the stimulate. I first try by putting the female I want him to breed in the cage where the female he likes was housed. I introduce him again and this is sometimes enough for him to go after the new female in a little while. If no response I will put the 2 females together for awhile to transfer scent and then try again. If still no response, I may need to leave both females together and let the male get started chasing the original female he likes again and before they can breed remove the original female and leave the new female in and this usually works. If the female won't let him breed her and he is trying I just keep using this same method that got him stimulated until she is receptive. It may be that she is just not ready to breed any male yet and you need to keep trying. Of course by keeping records year to year you have an idea when a certain female is ready to breed and if she still won't let a certain male breed her then you need to decide if you are going to tough it out with a certain male or give up and use a different one. Sometimes nothing works. I tend to chicken out and go with something different at that point. That is why extra males and females come in handy when trying something different since the female may allow 1 male but not any others that are the same as the 1 male she likes.
