I have a baby albino that I purchased from a local breeder about 4 months ago. He was three weeks old when I got him. This snake is such a sweethart I felt I had to share my experiences with him so far.
I was told by the breeder that ALL baby berms bite when that young and I would just have to deal with it until he got used to being handled. My first thought that this little boy was going to be rather gentle when they opened the container that housed all the babies and released them onto the floor for me to select, was that all of them were biting each other except this one beautiful boy. As each of the babies were approached every single one bit and nipped at anything or anyone who got close. Everyone of course except the one that was going home with me. I handle him almost daily (except after feeding and during shed) and have yet to even been nipped at once. Tonight was the final incident to cause me to share this story of this beautiful animal. As I've understood from this forum burms are rather veratious eaters, well this little boy has necer turned down a meal but last feeding and this one tonight just left me amazed. I am a relatively newbie to the world of snakes. I also have a RedTail Boa and a Ball Python, both of which attack the meals like they are killing their prey (I feed pre-killed to all three snakes). This burm has not attacked or even agressively approached his last two meals. He mearly approaches the rat, opens his mouth and slowly and calmly takes it in. I half expect him to use a bib and a napkin he eats so gently. Probably not much of a story to many of the more experienced snake keepers here but I was so impressed with the gentleness of this animal that I had to share.
