they aren't bad for them if they are feed as a secondary item.

my jacksons lived on them for a while becuase he loved them so much that he wouldn't eat anything else.

just make sure you feed him the white or redish brown one becuase they are softer than the black which are hard shelled and the cham doesn't digest the shell.
