Width or depth of 55 gals and Emperor pump/filter

southernpawsc Oct 24, 2003 10:37 PM

I looked at the two used tanks I asked about. Both were the exact same w/ the exact same stand. They are also the same as the only 55 gals that I saw at Petsmart. I think they said 3'x5' or 4'x5' (definitely longer tanks).

They were about a foot or more deep (front to back as opposed to top-bottom or left-right). Does this sound pretty normal? It's probably an optical illusion, but it just seems so small front to back compared to the rest of it, although it's the same that I personally have seen.

The one we're thinking about has a big Emperor filter or pump w/ the double wheel. It sucks from the bottom and flows back out like a waterfall.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Deep tanks are ok. Youre talking about an aquatic turtle here. Fill the tank up. My turtles live in a 120 G High tank that is 22" tall and filled within an inch of the top. Those hang on tank filters work better if the tank is fuller. If you need help on making a canopy hood that will prevent escape let me know.
