Hi kyle,
I use tubs in my rack with a similar size to what you described, so ill toss my two cents in. There is no definite answer, you really need to keep a close eye on geckos, and evaluate how they are doing. I house anywhere from 1-2 adult leos in a tub that big. 3-5 youngsters could also be kept in that type of enclosure.
I try to give each adult male his own 2’ X 1.5’ X 0.5’ container; I feel they are comfortable in this environment. A breeding pair would also do well in the same setup, for a short time. But a third gecko would really be pushing it.
I only leave the male in long enough to ensure the female is gravid, anything after that tends to stress her out or keeps her from eating properly. I have kept two gravid females in a container that size, but it was hard to tell whom the eggs belonged to, and I think they would have faired a bit better on there own.
If you plan on breeding, see if the rack you select can hold a ‘half sized’ container. Something around the order of 1’ X 1.5’ X 0.5’. That way you can fit two tubs on one shelf, making things more flexible.
Hope this helps, and let us know if you have any more questions, or if anything is unclear. Best of luck!
