HELP!!! HURT RIBBON SNAKE

User May 29, 2003 11:54 AM

I found it last night I think its been run over.
Its bottom jaw is broke on the left side. And there is blood in its eyes and it cant see. The snake is active and trys to bite .
I cant take it to the vet because he wont be in till monday and he is the only vet that knows about reptiles where i live.

Is there anything i can do untill monday??

All help is greatly appriciated.

I'm sorry to hear about the ribbon snake. Unfortunately, there's not much you can really do for the poor thing, other than to provide it with a hide box, and to not handle it too much. This will help to reduce the snake's stress level. It sounds like the jaw injury would probably prevent the snake from eating, but can it still drink? If so, you should provide it with so drinking water. Anyway, I hope the little guy is able to hold out until you can get him to the vet. Best of luck to you!

Something to add to the previous poster’s suggestions: put a blanket over the cage or try to keep the cage somewhere dark might help with stress. Good luck.
