Windex?

biochick13 Oct 25, 2003 03:24 PM

I am still working out all the day-to-day issues of taking care of my baby, and I was wondering if I could use windex or a similar product to clear any fogginess on the glass of his home. I work at a vet clinic, and bought a gallon of chlorhexidine to make sure that everything is dininfected, but no one there has much experience with exotics. I'm just concerned that the windex might be toxic. But chlorhexidine, while an amazing disinfectant, is not exactly engineered to be 'streak-free'. I know it's a small issue, but I would like to keep the glass nice-looking. Obviously, whatever product I used would be ammonia-free. Any opinions/expertise/past experiences would be welcome.

Vinegar and water keeps the glass very nice, and is non-toxic and cheap.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

doesn't most windex contain amonium? It's toxic to most animals in high concentrations...I would be very hesitant to use it near any of my snakes or other pets. Vinegar and water would be better...it absorbs odour as well as cleans nice. I find it smells better too...but then again I am sensitive to most cleaners, and room fresheners.

I use windex for cleaning BUT I water it down 50%. If you use it in full concentration, I heard they might regurgitate.
I never had any problems though.
