Egg incubation ??'s

sbr Oct 25, 2003 06:49 PM

Wondering if there is a trick to hatching out frilly eggs. I used perilite; 6:4 ratio perlite to water (filtered water) by weight. Incubated at 82-83; on the 65th day they started to colapse. Now it is the 80th day, no hatching, one has hardened. I opened it up to find a half developed animal. The eggs are 1/3 burried. I am worried that I did something wrong; but the remaining eggs are still soft and plyable. Thanks for any good info!!

My guess is that they collapsed a bit due to humidity issues--too dry? Frilled eggs can be touchy--too dry they collapse, too moist they dont hatch. I just do it by feel, sorry, no formula.
Frilled eggs can take as long as 90 days to hatch, so just leave the other ones be.
Good luck.

What is your ratio when you start incubation? Thanks for the help

I hate to be non-technical, but I really just do it by feel. I make sure the substrate is moist but not wet or heavy.
