misting & humidity?

jovcham Oct 25, 2003 07:31 PM

I live in florida beside a lake. I've never seen my cham's humidity go below 50% and its usually around 60-70%. I have 4 different gagues all reading the same, so I know one is not broken. Would a person have to mist if the humidity is always that high? I have to because some of my chams actually like it, they run around lapping up droplets. But I was just wondering would it be nessasary? This is just something I've wondered about.

If your cham only drinks from misting then you definately want to mist really well at least once a day. If he/she mostly uses a dripper then you don't have to worry about it so much. What kind of cham do you have?
I have a humdifier running so the humdity never drops below 55%, and it's usually higher than that anyway. I mist really well every morning and make sure my panther drinks (she doesn't usually use a dripper), then just mist quickly in the middle of the day if i'm home and right before bed. As long as you know that your cham isn't getting dehydrated you're set

I have panthers and veileds, just look at my signature below. All of my chams drink from a dripper. my male veiled likes to drink from the mister too though. I will continue to mist. I just wanted to know if misting served some other purpose other than humidity. thanks for the response
