Bad Shed, got peices I cant get off.

Rottenweiler9 Oct 25, 2003 08:14 PM

Question, my burm just had a really bad shed there are peices I cant get off of her, I tried keeping the humidity up in the cage, no go, I tried to soak her for 30 - 45 min in water no go, is there anything else I can do to get those peices removed. She has a couple peices on her neck and then some on her belly, that I cant get off.

2nd question is if there is nothing in the cage for the snake to rub up against is that a problem to, I mean she has her water bowl and carper, but thats it. I took out her things she used to have just recently before this shed because she is getting to big. So should have have something else in there.

Thank you

Even with very minimal cage furniture, they can get extra skin off. Are you sure its left over shed and not just some bad skin? Bad scale sections are fairly common so dont assume its unshed skin. I have yet to see shed that wouldnt come off at all. If you are CERTAIN its unshed skin, take it to a vet for further assistance.

Soak it in warm water for a while the skin should come right off. Be carful if it is around the eye. No vet is needed!!
