Your temps are going to vary and the daylight will get shorter with the change in season. I've never had any trouble with that alone telling my geckos it's time to breed each year. I wouldn't risk stressing them out by trying to do it artificially.

Brumation is not neccessary for them to breed, you will get eggs regardless of whether you do or not. I brumate my colony to give myself a break for 2 months and recoupe for the nexy breeding season. If I were keeping just a few geckos I probably would not bother.
