Which species will eat 2 wk. old crix?

spydergirl Oct 25, 2003 09:53 PM

I am new to dart frogs, and have never owned any before. However, I am not new to frogs. I have 3 phyllomedusa Hypochondrialis (tiger-leg monkey frogs) a red eye tree frog, a trio of whites tree frogs, a horned frog,2 GTFs,and snakes, dragons, tarantulas, etc. But I am looking into possibly getting one or two of a species. I was looking at a fairly easier and good beginner species and was told Leucomas, and Auratus' may be good for me. I dont have access to fruit fly cultures, but i dont work in a pet store where i can get 2 week old crickets supplied to me regularly. Will those frogs eat those crix? It would be convenient for me, yes but whatever the frogs need they shall get. But i just watned to ask before i get the frogs, which will be at the show on the 15-16 in valley frog,PA next month.if all goes through well of course.thanks.

Adult frogs might take 2 week old crickets but for froglets, you'll 2-3 day old crickets or fruit flys.

Phyllobates & Epipedobates will eat bigger food items, but will still need smaller food items until they get a little older. don't get your hopes up too much about the Valley Forge show. it only has a couple people selling frogs, but there are otehr cool animals there as well. i have some frogs for sale as well, some that are adults and i live in PA... so emial me if you might be interested: underautumnskies@aol.com goodluck-jon

hi mark!my hypos are doign awesome.thinking about putting them all together again sooner then i planned, theyre doing so well. biggest is 1.5 inches, smallest 1 1/8. How is the general care of those frogs you mentioned? I really would like some darts, they were always next on my list, but always getting bumped by another new deal (ex.-hypos!) id appreciate any help! Its not that im tryign to aviod feeding FFs,i just dont have the resources for them, and 2wk crix would be much much easier for me since i get them for nothing, and have access to them everyday. let me know.
