Fader Burm- Side/Belly - oh yeah...and a rabbit.

tomsburms Oct 25, 2003 10:01 PM

Tonight when this girl wrapped her food, it gave me a good opportunity to photograph her side and belly. The white on her sides and belly are much more dramatic than normal.

Do you realize how difficult it is to take a picture of a big burms belly under normal conditions? They are not very cooperative.

Enjoy,
Tom Reagan

There have been many faders out there and have yet to prove out.

Correct me if i am wrong TOM but didn't those use to belong to Bob Clark. What happened to them in his care. Why couldn't he prove them out. They are awsome no matter what.

You are right. This is Bob's original group, and to my knowledge, the only group. Bob was nice enough, and I was fortunate enough to acquire them from him last year.

He bred them together and produced phenotypically normal babies. I truly believe that the animals that he bred were from different genotypes and the babies were double hets. I don't think that he ever bred the babies back to the parents, and the fader project ended.

"FADER", is a broad term that I think was placed on this group of animals but I really think that are two "fader" morphs. These were imported at different times, not clutch mates. I think that is why they were not proven by Bob and that is why I want to outcross them with normals and get hets; to isolate the genes in each morph. I have worked with these animals for over a year now and I am almost certain that they are too different to breed true to one another.

Thanks,
Tom

I should produce hets this year. I have a male and a female but I think that they are two different morphs. I don't want to muddy their genetics by producing double het babies, so I am just going to breed them both to normals and get hets (hopefully) for each trait.

There are a lot of similarities between them and the spider ball pythons. Well we already know these burms arent co-dom, so thats not the same. But the fine lines and white sides are very similar. I think they are great!!
