Hey Kyle,

It is a hard choice but I'd go with the imitator on the very bottom, or maybe the azureus second from the top. Great pictures,

id say the second picture. I think the 3rd would be best (in the tree) but it really doesnt show enough of the frog.

BTW, how do you take these picture do you take your pictures? Do you put the camera into the tank and take them? If so do the frogs run a lot or do they get use to it?

just curious.

All of those were taken through the glass. With the lens right on the glass, so you do not get any reflections from the glass. One problem that some people have is that the lens on their camera moves, so putting it on the glass can be a pain because you might have to pull it off to zoom in or out. The new Sony camera will do this, and it is one of the things I am not happy about. I use a Sony F707 right now, and for a couple of those I used close-up lenses/filters. I also use the internal flash on the low setting so I do not get too much light. I also in some cases diffuse the flash with a piece of plastic or paper. I have a better flash, but for the frogs I have had the best luck with the internal flash. One thing to remember is that out of a 5 megapixel camera these pictures are huge. So I can crop out what I want, and that helps a lot. I'll have to post a larger one some time so people can really see the detail, as it is hard to see sometimes in the smaller pictures, and most people do not run their monitors in a high enough resolution to get best look at it anyways.

I've been thinking about selling prints of some of my pictures, as they really print nice.

Go with the first one kyle, it shows off alot of a beautiful frog, but the imitator pic is my personal favorite, i guess you'll have to decide on your own.
I hope your not grasped with indecision.

Thanks, I like that picture too, but it is not technically as good as some of the others. I really want to blow that one way up as I think a HUGE frog on the wall would look good... or funny...

Kyle,
I believe your last picture has the best composition.
Ones' eye comes from the bottom left corner into the subject and out the top right corner. The backround being black sets off the frog and flower head very nicely. The flower head supports the natural look to the frogs setting. The only thing wrong is the frog is dead centered in the picture. If this picture has been cropped I would go back to the original and extend the bottom frame down a little, the left frame extend to get all of the flower head tip. Then I would lower the top frame a little and move the right frame in a little. thus moving the frog in effect up and to the right enough to get away from the "BULLS EYE" effect that people tend to do with their pictures, waterfalls, and other design projects. FORMAL BALANCE is very hard to do and generally looks STATIC. When possible, lead the eye in and out of the picture and in a clockwise or counter clockwise direction. it gives flow and not dead end your eye. The same holds true to any design.
Sorry for being so lengthy, hope this can help

Since I don't actually take part in the finalist's voting with the other staff (since I be the one presiding over the contests) I think I can say that I tend to like the 3rd one down from the top...he looks cute peeking around the vines/greenery.
