whats up with the wave??

mandie Oct 26, 2003 08:53 AM

I've heard of this wave thing that some beardies do. My 6 wk old just did it today for the first time. Do all do it? What does it mean? Also he is about 7inches long. Is that a normal size for his age?

The wave is natural for dragons to do. It is part of their social interaction with others of their kind and their owners. Often females do it as a show of submissiveness to males, males to other males as well. Head bobbing and extending the beard are also part of dragon social behavior.

The size of your dragon is alright for it's age. However that being said, you have to keep in mind that all dragons grow at different rates depending on care. If you scan further down in this forum you will see other threads detailing the basic care of dragons (especially the one called 'my dragon won't grow), though a bit heated, it deffinitely shows what all the basic things should be done for proper care of a dragon. He also mentioned alot of good books and sites to read up on dragon care).

My dragon is a little over a year old and I've never seen him wave or head bob. He puffed his beard and hissed once when I woke him up but thats it. Is he anti-social?
