Hi all,

Why not ask the moderator to move all the relevant threads on this issue over to the Open Discussion Forum and continue the slap down, er I mean discussion, there?

Of course, one can say with much justification that these issues affect species survival and can be broached here, but where do you draw the line? And who gets to draw it? How about if someone starts flogging the topic of (human) birth control? Now THERES an issue which ultimately affects all species on the planet!

I enjoy scanning this forum from time to time. Used to have a big erebennus long ago if that counts for anything.

Regards,
Joan

P.S. I intended to post this under an existing thread, but every one I opened up seems to be denigrating some person or other, and I’m afraid I’m not all up on the politics over here, so didn’t feel like aligning myself with any faction, if you get my drift.

One has to present the question. Do any of these people read that forum? I think Dean posted the news story here because he realised that. What is wrong here is that so many rights are being threatened and these people are not even aware it's happening! Ref: the proposed Boiga Ban. I have been involved this last month in that fight-which effects us all (the first step in banning other reptiles)and I am shocked by the amount of professionals who are not even aware of it. There is too much of a "let others worry about it and don't bug me" additude in our hobby. We need to have the "Discomfort" of being aware....
Again I apologise. I plan to have another blacktail soon (it matters). This mess is about protecting some we have left in the wild. What Indigo issue is more important than that??

Frank,

I think most of us will begin reading that forum if there is something of interest there. Most of us are for the most part unwilling to enter a urination contest in this forum simply because we hold this forum for the purpose of discussing Dry issues. Not to infer that the below posts are not relevant to Drys, just that they are unusual posts in this forum and most folks are not going to rise to the occasion here. I think we've all lurked/posted in other forums and seen them taken over by issues that are distracting to the overall purpose of the forum.

Environmental issues and the current administrations' views of same (both State and National) are of interest to all of us, if we as a group are interested in conserving a particular species. However, the overall discussion of these issues, in general terms, is applicable to a number of species and so saying needs to be conducted somewhere else. The open discussion forum is a good place for all of the regular Dry posters to air their respective opinions, gives us something else to read if nothing else.

I offer in support of my contention the apparent reluctance of regular posters in this forum to engage in the discussion here. Besides it's breeding season.... this forum should be filled with stories of happy hook-ups.

Regards,
Jeff Nichols
