Lids on rubbermaid?

ngiovas Oct 26, 2003 01:59 PM

I am thinking of building a rack to house my BRB in. I saw several pictures on the Cage forum, but I have a question, several of the people built their rack for use without lids, but they left a 1/8" gap at the top so the rubbermaid would slide freely.

Is this gap big enough that a 5 month old BRB could escape? I know that my Ball is an escape artist, but she is housed in a display terrarium so this isn't an issue. 1/8" isn't very big, but I have heard of snakes escaping even with the lid on.

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,
. If your woodworking skills are really good you could build it with 1/8" gap all around and not have an escape problem. If your woodworking skills are like mine a gap might not be precisely the same all the way around on all the shelves. So, if I was building it I would plan on a smaller gap. My slider racks actually have zero gap which makes them a tight secure fit. The plastic boxes will flex a little bit allowing them to slide in and out.
