How safe would it be to put a froglet azureus in with two adults?

addam4208283 Oct 26, 2003 03:14 PM

Obviously after the month or so quarantine?
Thanks in advance.

One problem might arise from the adults out-competing the froglet for food. This also might lead to competition stress which could, in turn, lead to a multitude of problems. I would advise keeping frogs of similar proportion together if at all possible.

I have done this in the past successfully, but strongly advise against it. Like Randy said, food competition will be high as adults are very greedy over food...especially if they are producing. Your best bet would be to keep the froglets housed seperately in shoeboxes. I've found that the 20 qt (5 gallon) sterlite boxes are excellent for rearing froglets after they morph. The boxes are like 3 or 4 dollars at Wal-Mart and they even have a nice lid that prevents escape (just be sure to cover the box with a piece of saran wrap that has been perferated with small holes. Cut a square or circle out of the lid to aid in ventilation.
