Shedding questions.."sweat hotel"..

Tigergenesis Oct 26, 2003 03:53 PM

Once my BP starts the actual shedding of its skin, how long should the process take?

I remember seeing previous posts about what to do if the shed doesn't happen in one piece, but I can't seem to find them. Other than soaking I remember someone saying something about what they called a "sweat hotel" but I can't remember what.

Any ideas?

I use a 28qt Rubbermaid with a couple of ventilation holes. On one end (1/3 bottom) I place an UTH. I take the snake and put him in a moist, not wet, pilow case and place him inside. Within a few hours all skin is off. This has never failed. Just ensure it does not get too hot.

Great! Can I possible just put the pillowcase in the tank? So the snake can breath okay in the pillowcase?

TRY HOLDING YOUR SNAKE (AFTER THE SHED)IN A WARM DAMP TOWEL AND LET YOUR SNAKE SLIDE THREW IT A COUPLE TIMES. IT WORKED FOR MY FEMALE WHEN I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SAOKING WORKS WELL AS LONG AS YOU KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR SNAKE BECAUSE A FRIEND ALMOST LOST 2 SNAKES BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WATCH THEM AND THEY ALMOST DROWNED.
