Cheap rack system?

jt101 Oct 26, 2003 05:18 PM

I am looking at Sunday's classifieds and I notice the ads for plastic rack/storage systems from Office Max/Office Depot, etc. They run between $15 and $40 dollars, depending on size. I have my leos in separate aquariums but I'm thinking of options if I had to expand. I have neither the time nor inclination to build my own system and I'm not sure I want to spend $300 for a pre-made system. Do you think I could put some heat tape into one of these home office things? I am assuming that a 90 degree heat source shouldn't melt the plastic. Possible? Any other suggestions? Does everyone make their own racks?

That was the rage about 10 months ago except with walmart racks. I tried it and it was a real pain in the ..... When I taped the heat tape to the bottom of the drawers, I could hardly open them up. Also, I had heard that there was a lot of escapees by using those.
I would suggest making your own. If you have a menards in your town, they have some premade bookshelf things that worked perfect for me. Took a few hours, but saved 75% of what I would have bought one for. Rob Jenkins has a post on how to make one from scratch and he has a link to it. I have lost it.

You can never have just one gecko. Actually it is almost impossible to have two

I believe his name is Casey Hulse. I am not sure about his last name, but he has 10 drawer rack systems for like $150-$160 shipped!

I have never done business with him, but I have thought about it. Although I think I am going to to have someone build my racks for me.
