My male panther gets that starry eyed look when he sees the ladies or when he wants to see them. I think sometimes when he just thinks about them. But for sure if he sees one of my females. Then once he sees her his eyes will stay like that all day.
this happened after i showed my female to him. with her in front of him he just gets territorial and puffs up and everything. after i took her away he got sr=tarry eyed. he must just love me! lol

It is just a mating display it does not have to mean territorial behavior. Mine does the same he will puff up and display and when you take her away he stays starry eyed for a long time. Sometimes days. He is announcing to any females in the area that he is male and has lovin' on his mind!
