How about in the U.S., does anyone carry them on this hemisphere. I thought about getting one lst year, until I couldn't find any for sale. Anyone know of a place that keeps these? If not why isn't someoone captive breeding them, or can you?

I see them on the classifieds fairly often.

The classifieds on kingsnake? Let me know the next time you see them. How much do they go for anyways?

I think many of the reptile dealers have them occasionally. I don't ever recall seeing captive bred animals, but wild caught animals used to be available with some regularity.

Before you leap in, make sure you read the informative post further up the page about keeping Achrochordus. The same applies to Erpeton, in my experience.

I copied that post and saved it. It was excellent information indeed. My question is which is truly easier to keep, file or tentacle? They both are fairly similar animals and I was looking for a suggestion. The idea of an aquatic fresh water animal which endeavors best in a fully aquatic scenario is what drew me to these snakes. Water snakes are something that until recently I never really thought to ad to my collection. This forum is very persuasive as to convice some one they should own water snakes, just from the interesting conversations which take place daily. BTW, I havent seen Tentacle snakes in the Glade price list, how much do they tend to go for? Anyways thank you guys again for these forum conversations, You've sparked an intrest in water snakes for me. Of course I have other projects I importantly pursue but this maybe something I want to get downt he road.

Thanks,
Myke

I stated these as "fresh-water" animals and realized how dumb that sounded. What I meant was a snake that can be kept in fresh water, and is fully aqautic. I understand the the are not necessarily fresh water animals in the wild. I just like that they are so aquatic.
