Jackson's chameleons are one of the best chams you can get. Their temperment is great. I believe the males are right up there with panthers. They are what I have found to be one of the least aggresive chams I've ever kept. It's not hard to keep pairs or trios in large well planted enclosures. If you can keep them cool, and humid. You will do well with jax chams. They have live birth so you must be perpared for that if you decide to breed them. (The main reason I don't reguarly keep them) The babies require alot care. Their are alot of wild caught jax in the classifieds most of the time. Usually, they can be acclimated succesfully if you're an experienced chameleon keeper. If not, I would suggest buying captive bred animals, which is always a better choice if you can find them. Kammerflage Kreations, JD chameleons, and chameleon gardens or corral, or something. I noticed they had some available the other day.
as far as habitat goes compared to panthers, jacksons like it cooler with a lower basking temperature and higher humidity. You should also use calcium in much lower doses for them.
Dennis, you need to find a cham-a-holics anonymous...LOL! You haven't even gotten all the panthers that you are expecting, have you? ROTFL! You are worse than I am, and I thought *I* was bad! hahaha
The only difference is that you have a supportive wife...I have to bribe my husband to get him to agree to another cham. I think once I get what he's already said I can get, that it will be all...I'm sure he'll draw the line somewhere SOON.
You're hilarious!

just what my son is going to be for halloween?! a chameleon! my aunt is making a costume right now for him. her costumes usually turn out pretty good...but a chameleon isn't even close to a TYPICAL costume. we'll have to see.
my problem is i have a problem with saying NO to SPENDING money. it's been that way my entire working life. i used to just sneak in whatever i bought and just have it APPEAR(oh look what i found. i've been looking for this!). after a while i got comfortable and just came out AFTER i bought something(can't take it back after i bought it! lol)ans said look what i bought. never went over well. after that i'm not sure if i broke her or what but she finally said talk to me BEFORE you buy. sooo i talk to after i have looked around and convinced myself i NEED to have "IT".
i have my next 2 panthers planned out, 1 of them is arriving this wednesday morning, the other won't be ready till december(my wife can't wait for that one!), and i can't really afford anymore or have the room until i move them into the gargage(i'm trying to keep them in the house as long as i can. i'm suppose to spray for bugs around the house. the longer i wait the longer the chameleons stay inside.LOL)but i figure a jackson or for that matter a veiled don't cost as much and it's a chance to raise something a little differnet. i prefer the jackson only because i don't really like the high casque on the vieled. what ever i get it will probably be going into OUR bedroom. the 2 new panthers have spots ready for them in the kitchen and living room. i just need 2 nozzles and some longer tubing for the mister..oh and a drill for the wall to push the tubing though to our bedroom! lol

That is hilarious about your son...you are going to HAVE to post pictures of him in his costume!
What species is he going to be? ROTFL!
That tubing through the wall should be good for resale value of your house...tee hee hee! No, for real, you should count your blessings that your wife is not trying to off you if you are drilling holes in the house...thank goodness that she likes these chams now or you wouldn't have a chance...hahaha!

That's awesome that he's gonna be a chameleon for Halloween! I thought about that for my kid but he just turned 1 on Thursday and he can barely even walk yet. What does your son think of all this? I'm still gonna do the whole "Superworms in the candy bowl" thing this year. It'll be great. I've got 1200 of them ready to go. My wife's more anti-chameleon than your wife is Dennis. At least you got some of yours in the house. For about a week I had hidden my egg laying container in a closet and once she came across it I got a phone call at work. The only thing chameleon related in my house is the eggs. She's not even letting the babies stay inside. Maybe when they hatch she'll come around, but I kinda doubt it. We candled some of the eggs last night (the first ones to hatch, 7 months old next week) and 3 or 4 of them are very dark, like candling a rock. I'm excited. I almost wish one of them would go bad so I could open it up and see what's going on inside. A few are also turning a pink color, even without candling them. When I opened up the container, you could see the difference in a few of them. CAN'T WAIT!

my son is totally into it! he wanted to be a pirate but after my aunt said she would make a chamelon costume he was like right on! my wife saw the costume and said it looks good and the head looks like a chameleon's head.
my wife at first was completely anti. i don't know what has made her come around, but she has made it very clear the chameleons cannot stay inside. the eggs will and so will the babies. we pretty much had the same discussion when i bought my safe. she wanted in in the garage and i wanted a green one and it to be in the house. i told her she could pick the color so that she was "apart of the decision". she picks white, so i think it's OK to have it in the house. well it wasn't. round and round we went and finally i got my way and it is in the house...and now with the chameleons next to it! lol

Hi Dennis,
Currently we have a large breeding colony of jax (xants)
We have found that they are just as easy as the panthers - just need a cooler, wetter environment. Their temperment is great - rarely have an aggressive one, but occasionally find a timid one.
If you decide to get one... be sure to get them at 5 months or older - the younger ones are too fragile (we won't ship them), and they are well past that point.
We like to sell 6 month juvies or older.
Hope this helps...
