Ok i got a ball python about a month ago. A beautiful little creature named spike. Now he is about 22 to 24 inches long and pretty fat but not to fat. I feed him 1 full grown mouse every 4 to 5 days or when he seems restless. I fed him two days ago and he calmed down and didnt seem like he was hunting. But today he is back in hunting mode and looking to kill. So my question is how many mice should i be feeding him and how often? i dont like to see him restless like that. should i feed him more often or can he handle eating two mice in the same day so he wont have to eat like every two days if that is what he is looking for?
thanks for any advice

i have a ball python thats about the same size as yours. I feed him one small rat (100-120gram) per week. It takes 2 days for the area of the rat to go flush with his body. the lump is hardly noticable. its not big, but not small. I find feeding this size rodent per week is better and more nutritional.

Your 150-200 gram Ball eats rats that large Lee?

My snake is pretty much the same size as yours and I feed him two adult mice, in one feeding, a week and that seems to work really well.

I feed mine the same 2 every saturday, been thinking of working him towards rat pup/mouse combo one of these days.

I have a few hatchlings that are a little smaller than yours, and I feed them one or two weanlings (50-75g) every 5 days. I prefer to feed them two smaller items than one big one. They digest quicker and are ready to eat again sooner. Also, just because your bp is in 'hunt mode' as you call it, does not mean she is hungry. Balls like to roam around their enclosures. Not necessarily a sign of hunger. Good luck.
