eggs hatching?

ody Oct 26, 2003 11:18 PM

I've had 25 eggs sitting in the incubator since September 16. I was gone for the weekend (my wife was home to take care of the adult dragons), and when I got back today, I noticed that several of the eggs are starting to collapse some. That seems way too soon to me. I didn't notice any sweat on them yet. The temp has been around 83 the whole time, and the humidity was at 90%, but has recently dropped a little to 82%-86%. I added more water to the bottom of the incubator tonight, and covered up all but one of the exhaust holes on top of it to try and keep some of the humidity in there. Is it possible that they are just hatcing early, or is something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no expert but I think 40 days is waaaay to early, are you only putting water in the bottom of the incubator? In addition to having water in my bottom incubator trough I also keep a tub of water inside the incubator next to the eggs, I also try to keep my incubator temp between 86 and 87 degrees. Also is your vermiculite dried out? If your vemiculite is dried out try taking a serenge or something else and carefully add some water to the vermiculite, be careful to not get any water on the egg or you could drown the dragon embreyo.

No, they wouldn't be hatching this soon..Your temp is correct. Make sure your vermiculite is damp enough. If not, drip water or use a syringe around the eggs to moisten it.
