A shipping question.

I noticed an ad in the classifieds for a hairy bush viper on 10/25 that said,"SHIPPED TO YOUR DOOR". Since when could you have hot snakes delivered to your home?
Then again, I do remember a clown wanting me to send him an eyelash viper via UPS, so I guess anything is possible.

We can hope it was a mistake, maybe he sells mostly non-hots and typed that through force of habit...

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

Well to be perfectly honest, I think sending any snake via UPS, Airborne, etc. is illegal. All these "shippers" have strict regulations, with a most permitting only turtles, some lizards, and frogs.
Most tend to ignore these regulations.

Airborne does ship non-venomous snakes.

It is not illegal to ship a non-venomous snake through Airborne, UPS, FedEx, etc. It may be against their company policies, but not illegal. It is illegal to ship a venomous snake via these couriers under the "hazardous materials" regulations.

It IS illegal to ship ANY snake via the U.S. Postal Service regardless of whether or not it is venomous.
