Hi, I've got a question for all the experts here. I'm getting a baby corn snake for my daughter (6yrs) and partly because my childhood interest in snakes has been rekindled by her. I've got a question on sex selection. Are there any temperment differences from male to female. I'd be interested in one that is more docile since I know it will be getting a lot of hands on attention. My initial impression is that they tend to bite when you pic them up then settle down once you are handling them. Thanks for your answers.

I have two sons that are 7 and 3 and both are animal lovers especially the 7 year old. We got our first corn snake when the older son was about 3 years old. I bought a full grown snake and I am so glad I did. The snake had been raised by a little girl, and was calm and docile. He never minded kids holding him. He also wasn't as quick to slither off when feeling threatened. I have hatchling corns now and it is very hard for young children to hold them because they are quick and never hold still. It's been four years and we still have Corneilus. My kids love him and now all the neighbor kids are getting to know him. Some of the girls who hated snakes are now even holding him. I would recommend an older snake if it's possible for you to get one. Just thought I would share what works well for us....
