Very watery stools

djfuente Oct 27, 2003 01:24 PM

My beardie has always had very watery stools. I don't know why exactly...I am beginning to think that it is all of the carrot that I feed to the crix. That's the only food source that I provide to them. Also, she has been eating a lot of greens lately, namely mustard greens. I'm pretty sure it's not coccidia because she just got off of her treatment for it just over a week ago and I have been real careful to disinfect daily as I did during her treatment. Also, she has a monster appetite and is very active. So she just pooped now and there was a lot of water to go with it, not just the regular little puddle. It was clear aside from the slight greenish tint because of the repcal pellets she eats as well. So what's wrong here with her diet? Is it possible for her to be consuming way too much moisture....should I ditch the carrots? I just realized that on the safe foods list it has carrots listed as to be fed infrequently, but that is for nutritional content concerns.

Was there solid poop too? If there was extra water along with solid poop, that's a good thing. It means she is hydrated and doesn't need it all.

but I feed silkworms which contain a lot of moisture. The stool is so watery it makes the solids break up as well but there is definitely a separation between the liquid and the solid.

I have been skeptical about it and wonder if she's getting too much moisture as well. I mean, are there any long term difficulties having a desert animal constantly expelling pure liquid?

I love the silkies and they are easy to keep but am continuously leary of the moisture content. I'm probably just paranoid, though, since I've heard more than once now the watery stool is fine.

we had this problem with our beardie this weekend....he had a huge poop, along with alot of liquid and a piece of undigested superworm...I know the cause of that. My son turned his light off too early. But, I think it is a hydration thing. Velcro gets hydrated in a bath at least once a day. He is potty trained to the water. He gets enough water so this is why his stool is so watery.

Merlin was treated for pinworms. His stool was solid before treatments, now they are watery. The vet said it would take a few weeks for him to get back to a regular stool.
