Just adopted this poor, dehydrated little fella and have no idea what he is other than a Uro. Have researched all day online, but have seen a few that resemble him....any ideas? If you need further info, post. Different pics? Just post. Any advice is welcome....Bought Walls' book, but it seems a bit antiquated. Ugh. Thanks in advance! littleadsmom

Looks like a male ornate Uromastyx. Look at the pictures at the link below and tell me if you see anything similar. It's kind of hard to tell from the side view picture you attached. How long is he and how much does he weigh? Are you sure you have the proper set up for him? You should give him a soak in a warm water (not hot) bath to hydrate him a bit. Also, read the caresheet at this link if you have not already:

good luck with him.

i am almost positive it is a Somalian uro (U. macfadyeni). and if it has a blue/green tint to it it is a male. The link below takes you to urotopia which has a somalian uro photo album.

I believe you are both right! Thank you. I soaked him in a warm/hot water mixture with a pinch of sugar and some electrolytes, and not only did he seem to enjoy it, he actually drank from my hand. He is about six inches long and seems to be doing well. He will be caged in a 20 gallon long tank with a 100 watt heat bulb at one end. Any other suggestions would be appreciated, and thanks again!
