Problems shedding...

dubumb Oct 27, 2003 02:20 PM

My one gecko is having big problems shedding... He cannot get most of his shed off... I tried soaking him and that helped a bit, but he still have dried skin on the side of his head and some of his back. He has a humid hide that he goes into SOMETIMES... but he doesnt even try to get the skin off... I used tweezers to get most of the skin off, but skin still remains in places where it is impossible to pick off with tweezers...

What should i do?

I would make sure the humid hide is on the warm end of the housing... if it isn't, he may be avoiding it in favor of warmth. (??)
Also, make sure he has some relatively rough surfaces (not sharp) to rub against. The soaking is good, but I don't like to use tweezers on my leos simply because if the skin isn't completely ready, it can hurt coming off! Try using a warm washcloth to gently rub him with after a good soak.
That's what I went through with mine once and it seemed to work pretty good. Good Luck!
