BP Pair locked up for 2 days, then I fed them...bad idea?? more...

Hey,

Went to feed my bp pair 2 wks ago and found them locked up! Same next day, so the third day I found them apart and fed them, now they haven't shown much interest. I added another male tonight, causing the males to get all riled up and beat on each other for a few minutes (not bad!). The female is ready to shed. Will she still be able to breed or has the moment passed and should I separate them?

Thanks!

Steve

Separate them.....feed them and leave them be for about a week. Then place them back together. If they breed leave them together until they are finished. If they don't breed after a day remove them for another week and feed them. Females need a lot of food to produce eggs......they cannot do it on body fat alone. If they are still eating at the end of Feb take them off food. The breeding season is still early.....most of my balls don't start breeding until January and most of mine stop breeding in March.

Good luck!
Corey
PS most snakes won't breed when they are in shed.
